Installing the PWA¶
JuryBinder is a Progressive Web App (PWA). You can install it to your device so it opens like a native application — with its own icon, no browser address bar, and no internet required after install.
Installation is optional but recommended, especially on iPad where it gives you a full-screen experience suitable for courtroom use.
iPad (Safari) — Recommended for trial¶
Safari on iOS is the recommended browser for iPad installation.
- Open Safari and navigate to jurybinder.com/app
- Activate your license if you haven't already
- Tap the Share button (the box with an arrow pointing up) in the Safari toolbar
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen
- Edit the name if desired (default: "JuryBinder"), then tap Add
JuryBinder now appears on your home screen with its icon. Tap it to open in standalone mode — no browser chrome, full screen.
Use Safari, not Chrome or Firefox, for home screen install on iPad
Only Safari supports "Add to Home Screen" on iOS. Chrome and Firefox on iPad can use JuryBinder normally but cannot install it to the home screen. If you use Chrome or Firefox, use the Export button to save your work rather than relying on the browser's file handling.
Mac / Windows desktop (Chrome or Edge)¶
- Open Chrome or Edge and navigate to jurybinder.com/app
- Look for the install icon in the browser address bar — it looks like a monitor with a down arrow (Chrome) or a
+icon (Edge) - Click the icon and then click Install
JuryBinder opens in its own window without browser controls and appears in your app launcher / taskbar.
Alternatively, in Chrome: open the menu (⋮) → Save and share → Install JuryBinder...
Verifying offline capability¶
After installing, test that JuryBinder works offline:
- Open JuryBinder
- Turn on airplane mode (or disconnect from wifi)
- Close and reopen JuryBinder
It should open normally with no internet. If it shows a "could not connect" browser error, try reinstalling — the service worker may not have finished caching the app on first load.
Uninstalling¶
Long-press the JuryBinder icon on your home screen → Remove App → Delete App. Your case files are not affected — they live in the app's private storage and are not deleted with the app icon.
Open JuryBinder → click the menu in the app window's title bar → Uninstall JuryBinder
Open JuryBinder → click Settings (⋯) → Apps → Uninstall
Your case files are separate from the app
Uninstalling the PWA removes the app icon and cached shell, but your .jbinder case files are saved separately in your device's file system. They are not deleted.
