Activating your license¶
When you open JuryBinder for the first time, the app prompts you to enter a license key. This is a one-time step that requires an internet connection.
What you need¶
- Your license key (format:
JB-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) - An internet connection
Your license key was emailed to you when your purchase was processed. Look for an email from licenses@jurybinder.com with the subject line "Your JuryBinder License Key."
Steps¶
- Open JuryBinder at jurybinder.com/app.
- The License Activation screen appears automatically on first launch.
- Paste your license key into the field.
- Select Activate.
JuryBinder validates the key with the license server and stores a session token on your device. Activation takes a few seconds.
After activation, the JuryBinder welcome screen appears. You're ready to create a case or set up your identity.
Setting up your identity¶
After activation, JuryBinder prompts you to enter your display name, email, and attribution color. This information identifies your contributions when you collaborate with co-counsel. You can update these settings at any time by selecting the colored dot and your name in the header.
For more about how identity and attribution work during collaboration, see Collaboration.
Troubleshooting¶
- "Invalid key" error
- Double-check that you copied the entire key, including the
JB-prefix and all four groups. The key is not case-sensitive. - "Key revoked" error
- Contact support@jurybinder.com. Your key may have been revoked in error.
- Activation screen doesn't appear
- If you've already activated JuryBinder on this device, the activation screen won't appear again unless your session has expired. See Offline Use for details on session tokens.
- No internet access right now
- Activation requires a one-time internet connection. If you need to activate without internet, contact support@jurybinder.com for assistance.
License key format¶
A valid JuryBinder license key looks like this:
The key is always 19 characters: JB- followed by four groups of four alphanumeric characters separated by hyphens. The alphabet excludes ambiguous characters (0/O, 1/I/l) so keys are easy to read and type.
Store your key somewhere safe
Your license key is tied to your purchase, not to a specific device. You can activate the same key on multiple devices. Keep a copy in your password manager or email archive.
